The town's excellent rail links allow easy access to both the north and the south. Situated on the main line between Manchester and London, and with regular services, Stockport is just 15 minutes away, Manchester Piccadilly can be reached in 30 minutes and London is two hours away. Manchester International Airport is just a short taxi ride away. The North Midlands are also within easy reach with Stoke just 20 minutes away by rail.

Eating and Drinking

The town is famous for its pubs, and claims to have more per person than anywhere else in the country. The town centre has a variety of coffee shops, bars and restaurants and with Wilmslow and Alderley Edge nearby there will always be somewhere for you to hang out with your new HouseMates.

Sports and Outdoors

The location is ideal for outdoor pursuits. The beautiful local countryside offers an excellent variety of running and cycling locations with more extreme experiences such as climbing and hang-gliding popular in the Peak District. The town has five 18 hole golf courses within 15 minutes drive. HouseMates has a partnership with the impressive Tytherington Club which offers golf, squash, tennis, a gymnasium and swimming pool. A recent SportEngland survey showed that residents of Macclesfield are in the top three most active in England but if you prefer to watch your sport, then you have both a local Football League Club and a Rugby Club in National League Division Three in the town.

Whether you are working in the town itself, at one of the large local organisations such as AstraZeneca and McCann Ericcson, or commuting to the north or the south, Macclesfield offers a great place to live.
